Name a Star Giveaway and Review via A Conquered Mess
I recently got the opportunity to review a service called Name A Star. Basically you buy a star, and you can name it. You can also add a message to your star so that when you look it up on Google Earth, you are able to see the message.
To make it interesting, I'll tell you exactly how if went for me.
I chose to name the star after my oldest child, and I left him what I thought was a beautiful message that expressed the way I feel about him.
Not long after I placed the order I received an e-mail with instructions on how to see my son's star. Attached was the following certificate: (I have modified it for privacy reasons).
As per the instructions, I downloaded Google Earth and was able to see his star. Here is what it looks like: (Again, modified for privacy reason.)
In case you can't see the message, it reads: "I love you more than the number of stars in the sky. Always & Forever."
When my boy got home, I told him I had named a star after him. He loves science and space, so he was beyond excited. We looked for the star together and I let him read the message on his own. When he was done reading, the most heart warming thing happened.
He asked me, "Mom, did you write that?". I said yes. Then he gave me the tightest and longest hug he's ever given me and told me how much he loved me. It made my heart melt!
If you have children who are able to read, this is a perfect all-occasion gift for them. I sent my husband a photo of the star with the message and he said he want to name one after me! I think that's sweet of him.
All in all, I think the Name-A-Star service is a fun gift that both adults and children can enjoy. Just imagine your kids' reaction when they see their very own star! Or your other half's reaction when he or she reads that special message you left for them!
