Families on the Internet: What's Your Protection Plan?

The other day while having a conversation with a close friend her son decided to play a game of "Hey! Mom....Hey! Hey! Mom!" After asking him not to interrupt several times and eventually having a grasshopper thrown on her, she handed him her phone with the simple instruction to play a game.
Ten minutes later my phone notified me that she had just posted on Facebook...a lovely selfie of a snot bubble coming out of her son's nose. I couldn't help but laugh because I cannot count how many times Livia has done something similar to this to me.
Earlier that week I had read an article from The Daily Mail that had been circulating on my Facebook about a Mother's response to her son's female Facebook friends. And I realized...
The internet has become a big part of our lives, and it has become a bigger part of our children's lives. It's almost overwhelming how everything ties into one social network or another.
Want a discount at your favorite pizza place? Use a hashtag on Twitter.
Want to stay up to date with local events? Like a Facebook page.
Trying to figure out how to do something? Check YouTube.
...Not to mention, instagram, stumble upon, reddit, pinterest, vine, snapchat....the list goes on.
How many classrooms are now requiring students to get online? Personally I believe this is amazing!

But, the question stands - do you know what your kids are doing online? Do you know when your kids are online?
Do you know what your kids are being tagged in? Or tagging others in?
Do you know your kids friends on their main social networks?
As the saying goes, once online always online.
The one thing that I love about Parental Guidance is that it isn't checking up on a child, it is checking in. It isn't hindering their learning, preventing communication, or muting their creativity. It is just an array of tools that helps you, the parent, do your job, while allowing your children to safely explore their world.
By using Parental Guidance you can protect your child's activities across the internet no matter which computer, tablet, or mobile device they are using.
I hope you take a minute to visit them at ParentalGuidance.org and are able to find a program that will suit your families needs.

At the moment my son is too young to really go on the internet but I will need to come up with an action plan in a few years.
He already knows how to work my iPhone better than I do lol
